Shared Traits

A shared Trait is one that several characters put points into, and is accessible by all of them. It could be something as simple as being a member of The Big Team grants access to the HQ and supercomputer, it could be a Voltronic suit. If a player doesn't wish to contribute, they do not have access to it, if a player contributes and is not present, the Trait is not as powerful. Shared Traits are built like any other Trait, just that their point total is split evenly amongst everyone participating, and multiple levels of the Trait must be calculated ("Uh-Oh, two of the members are not here, so our supercomputer is not as powerful").

They might Power-Up, Diminish, Link, etc, etc.

  1. Hmmm, this one I'm not so sure of. Though I appreciate the concept of shared traits, in some cases I don't see why not having the whole group there would necessarily make them weaker. Your example of the supercomputer is a case in point. The bearing of how many team members are there should have no effect on the power of the computer, nor is that simulated in the genre. With a Voltron suit, sure, I can see it, but not in the case of the headquarters.

  2. This was done strictly from a gamist standpoint. If there are a pool of 7 players in my group, and only 4 show up regularly...... I can understand what you are saying, but maybe it is one of those missing characters who knows how to best use the supercomputer....
